About

Masa Wick

I’m Michael A. Sawick — publicly, Masa Wick.

The name is a loose translation across Japanese and English: “the correct fuse.” Lighting the right one matters more than lighting everything.

I’m 55. Not a developer. Eight months ago I could barely navigate a terminal.

Today I’m building vOS — an open source AI operating system modeled on the human brain, running on three machines, improving itself overnight, and costing $60 a month instead of $600.

I document every step of the build here. The wins, the failures, the real numbers. Nothing polished. Nothing held back.

Why vOS

I got tired of paying $600 a month for AI that forgot everything I told it. Every session started from zero. Every thought cost a token. No memory. No learning. No sovereignty.

The human brain solved this 500 million years ago with a three-layer architecture: brain stem (automatic functions), limbic system (pattern recognition and memory), neocortex (deep reasoning). Each layer has a job. Each feeds the next.

I’m copying that structure — one machine per layer, running locally on hardware I own.

The Architecture

  • Brain Stem — 16GB Mac Mini. Always on. Routes, delivers, publishes. Never stops.
  • Limbic System — 64GB Mac Mini Pro. Learns while I sleep. Consolidates memory overnight.
  • Neocortex — 512GB Mac Studio. Deep reasoning. Long-form writing. Strategy. Arrives end of March.

The full system is open source. Fork it. Build your own version. Make it yours.

The Mission

Personal: An operating system for a life of sovereignty, autonomy, and freedom. Work from anywhere. Think at full capacity. AI that serves you rather than renting you its attention.

Professional: Richer Living — the system, methodology, and framework for anyone who wants the same.
